Public Relations Campaigns and strategy is a capstone course that introduces students to the process of campaign development, management, and evaluation using public relations principles and strategies. This course marks your transition from student to professional by simulating real-world professional settings. Through direct experience as a practitioner, the goal of this course is to help you master the elements of a strategic communication campaign. The course is designed from a professional standpoint and includes numerous real-life examples. You will be working with a real-world client, so you will be expected to act professionally in your interactions with me, your teammates, and your client. This also means that your work will be evaluated based on its quality, creativity, and professionalism. You will work in groups to create a solid, strategic, measurable, and actionable communication plan for a client assigned to you by the instructor. Before you begin working with a client, your team will write a proposal and prepare a client pitch. This is an exciting opportunity to put your public relations skills and knowledge from this program's coursework (research methods, writing, strategy, and visual communications) to use, as well as your practical and professional experience from internships or jobs. This course is designed with you and your learning needs in mind, with plenty of time and opportunities for hands-on learning. While you will be working in groups, this course will allow you to showcase your individual creative talents as well as your knowledge of communication programs, strategy, and tactics. The course focuses on the creation of various campaign components. The main task is to create a professional-looking communication campaign plan. Team participation and presentation skills development are also important aspects of the course.
